Abraham built his house of worship before Muhammad was born. The city (Mecca) was very wealthy. The city had numerous trade routes and was located in a rocky area located in western Arabia. Merchants were wealthy because their trading was had a lot of success. The Arabs were not a united nation :( Most Arabs lived in the desert & they had loyalty in their tribes and clans.
